Primary Backing Cloth Fabric made specifically for Hand Tufting.
We supply this backing fabric to the trade and direct to the public. As it is extremely durable it is used by professional rug makers to make, for example, bespoke carpeting for hotels.
With equal warp and weft this makes the perfect punching backing. It is made of 100% polyester so is not affected by humidity changes whilst stretched on your frame like cotton backing fabrics

Primary Backing Cloth Fabric for Hand Tufting.
An even weave of 70 ends and 70 picksfrom spun polyester yarn singles 5.6 Nm in warp and weft. Stripes in both warp and weft at 50 cm intervals. Tuck in selvedges. 266 grams per square metre. Developed for the Hofmann VML16 tufting gun and suitable for all tufting guns with similar needle size of 6 mm
266grams per sq metre = 70/70 = 70 threads per 4 inches both in the vertical and horizontal
